Rita Monser
Owner/Executive Director
In 2010, Rita celebrated her 25th year at The Lake Veterinary Hospital. In 1985 she was in college majoring in business and applied for the receptionist position. Dr. Robin Woodley gave Rita the opportunity to use her business training to contribute to changing the practice from crisis to prevention medicine through education, accreditation, professional standards, and commitment to the highest level of patient and client care. In 1988 Rita was instrumental in the initial accreditation of TLVH by the American Animal Hospital Association, the highest accreditation in the veterinary industry, and was beaming with pride this past August 2010 as TLVH completed an intensive evaluation and celebrated our 22nd year with AAHA. The icing on the cake was the opening comment from AAHA’s inspector Deanne Bonner, RVT, CVPM, “this hospital is in the higher echelon of accredited practices”. Rita’s interpretation: the best of the best!
In 1995 Rita’s mentor Robin Woodley, DVM offered her the opportunity to purchase 1/3rd ownership in TLVH, then in 1998, when Dr. Woodley retired, Rita became 50% owner, and in 2006 purchased 100% of The Lake Veterinary Hospital. January 2011 marks 16 years of ownership as a non-DVM. Rita is happy to have Eleanor Dunn, DVM, ABVP as Medical Director and Emily Lin, DVM as an Associate Director to create the medical vision for the practice.
Over the last 25 years Rita and her family have been grateful to share our home, hearts, and laps with many pets. In loving memory to Seymour, Greta, Will, Emma, Max, Mona, and Thorn. Currently Lucy (pug) and Ozzy (siamese mix) fill the house with fun and mischief.
Working in the veterinary profession allows Rita the opportunity to fulfill her purpose in the work she chose to devote her career to. Rita believes and is passionate about TLVH’s ability to extend the life of every pet through education, prevention, and treatment. Rita is grateful every day to be part of TLVH legacy of quality medicine, standards of excellence, highest accreditation in veterinary medicine, and our ability to reach people and their pets that share the same vision.
